Today's Sidecountry Tour
The day started with a briefing with customers. Checking how is the weather forecast, places where to go, and get all the information available about the gates.
After that, we decided to start the day at Miharashi, the snow is real good (about 20cm of fresh powder), and being one of the first ones on the Gondola line, fresh tracks are guaranteed. We did 2 amazing runs at Miharashi, taking the group to some of my favorites spots in the Miharashi area, it was still early in the morning so there wasn't many tracks.
Once Miharashi was done,we decided to go to swinging monkey. Royce and tetsu, two of the secrets that a big resort as Hirafu keeps. Good snow, wide open forest, and no many tracks were still there. And it was only 10 in the morning!!!
In our way back to the Gondola, we saw a run in miharasi almost untouched, so we decided to go there. Miharashi is such a big area, than even a 10:30 in the morning, it keeps fresh runs to do.
After explore a big area of Hirafu side country, we checked the status of the gates. Annupuri gates number 1 and number 7 are opened!!!!!! So we traverse all the way from the Ace #4 to Annupuri and got to L-Ji gate. After a short traverse trough the trees (some more snow will be amazing), we get to the OSawa bowl. Avoiding the dangerous areas in the bowl (avalanche risk was still high), we ski down one of the big ridges. Snow was still good but was starting to be bumpy (powder junkies wake up very early!!), but it was still knee deep at some points. We still had time for one more run, so we decided to try one more of the gates. Ee sawa gate (G#7). Two mellow galleys that end in a very nice wide open forest.
After all the energies needed to made 7 of the best powder side country runs in the whole mountain, this is the perfect run to finish another awesome japow day!
And the best of all...is still snowing in Hirafu, so tomorrow will be another japow day!!!!
